Job Summary: The Manager, Science Marketing Content is responsible for leading Illuminaâ Âs science marketing writing staff to develop high-quality content that supports marketing campaigns and product launches. The position is also responsible for helping to build a content engineâ  that can scale to support Illuminaâ Âs marketing content needs during a period of rapid growth and diversification. Reporting to the Director, Content Operations, this position will develop content strategy and implement content management systems to support multi-channel publishing and maximize content reuse and syndication. The manager leads all group operations, optimizes workflow, and balances resource allocation to ensure a smooth flow of projects through the team. As part of the corporate marketing management team, s/he is responsible for driving close collaboration with other functions across the department and aligning the group direction towards shared business goals.
Primary Responsibilities :
â ¢Lead the science marketing writing team, promote a sense of teamwork, develop needed skills, and provide direction and strategic oversight.
â ¢Review all project requests, determine scope of work, and coordinate with project managers to schedule projects based on business priority and available resources.
â ¢Manage all group operations, including business process, staffing, capacity management, productivity reporting, and budget management. Create a deep bench of agencies and contractors to augment internal resources for peak loads.
â ¢Develop and implement content reuse strategies that enable the organization to syndicate content across multiple publishing media, including print, web, video, social, and other outbound communicationchannels.
â ¢Evolve infrastructure to support decentralized content origination, where subject matter experts in other groups use structured templates to generate copy and submit it for editing and publication.
â ¢Coordinate with the digital experience team, who own the web content management system, to optimize it for marketing writing needs.
â ¢Maintain an organized, up-to-date content inventory system that can be mined for new content development projects.
â ¢Develop a content analytics plan to evaluate content performance and inform marketing campaign strategies.
â ¢Collaborate with other functional managers to maintain and improve department operations, and align towards shared business goals.
â ¢Act as a strategic advisor on content development projects for stakeholders across corporate marketing.
Qualifications:

â ¢Extensive experience with content strategy and information architecture
â ¢Expertise in publishing standards and processes
â ¢Experience with content management systems and databases
â ¢Applied knowledge of user-centered design principles
â ¢Experience building teams and leading change
â ¢Proven ability to understand scientific or technical concepts
â ¢Excellent verbal and written communication skills
â ¢Excellent leadership qualities: energetic and inspiring disposition, open and friendly demeanor, and demonstrated ability to engage and influence diverse personality types across a global organization

Education and Work Experience
â ¢2 + years work experience in developing interactive content
â ¢7+ years of writing, editorial, and content production
â ¢5+ years defining and executing content strategy
â ¢5+ years managing a writing staff
â ¢BA/BS degree or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, or a Life Science
