SUMMARY:
Medical Science Liaisons are field-based, Regional Medical Liaisons specializing in appropriate Medical Affairs interactions and support of institutional/KTL/HCP needs in the academic & community oncology, hematology and solid organ transplant care setting.
The Medical Science Liaison will be responsible for engaging with specified institutions, key thought-leaders (KTLs), HCPs, and organizations in their territory through appropriate high level scientific support for research activities, publications, education, consulting, and other Medical Affairs initiatives. The MSL will be the primary conduit for Medical Affairs interactions and communications for their assigned institutions & organizations. They will ensure effective two-way communication across multifunctional teams in carrying out Medical Affairs tactics. Extensive knowledge of oncology and field medical affairs is strongly preferred. The position will report to a Regional Director of MSLs, US Oncology Field Medical Affairs.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
â ¢ Engage with specified KTLs and assigned institutions to provide scientific support for existing strategic products and pipeline agents upon request or in fulfillment of an approved Medical Affairs initiative
â ¢ Serve as a primary liaison for clinical and scientific information exchange with health care providers in assigned institutions, cooperative groups, patient advocacy groups, and other prioritized oncology, hematology and/or solid organ transplant accounts. Serve as a primary liaison for connecting key institutions and their affiliate KTLs with appropriate Medical Affairs initiatives that forward the scientific progress of our brands
â ¢ Provide scientific and liaison support for the involvement of KTLs with Sanofi Oncology research activities including Company-Sponsored Trials and facilitation of unsolicited requests for interactions related to Investigator Sponsored Trials (ISTs). Assume primary responsibility for appropriate facilitation of IST projects.
â ¢ Develop and execute Field Medical Affairs plans at the assigned territory level in full alignment with Medical Affairs strategies and tactics. Territory plans include specific institutional and KTL plans, and may include Cooperative Group and/or patient advocacy group plans.
â ¢ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide balanced, accurate medical information to, and scientific exchange with institutional formulary decision makers and P&T committee members
â ¢ Obtain, assimilate, organize, and report appropriate competitive and scientific intelligence in a concise, clear manner, compliant with all applicable Sanofi policies, procedures, and processes
â ¢ Assist with implementation and engagement of KTL participation in advisory boards, consultant meetings, and other scientific meetings consistent with all Sanofi policies, procedures, and processes
â ¢ Attend assigned scientific congresses and cooperative group meetings for the purposes of gaining scientific insights, supporting the communication of information about disease states which may potentially include Sanofi products, gathering competitive and scientific intelligence, and supporting KTL interactions
â ¢ Collaborate with scientific communications to support development of publications and communications.
â ¢ Engage with assigned cooperative groups and patient advocacy groups to support their scientific, research, and educational needs that are consistent with Sanofi Oncology Medical Affairs strategy, compliant with all applicable Sanofi policies, procedures, and processes
â ¢ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess disease education needs; assist with the development, review and approval of educational materials; and deliver approved education and other Medical Affairs activities to meet those needs
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:
â ¢ Demonstrate understanding and mastery of the specific Medical Affairs support needs and preferences of customers providing oncology care or performing research in the academic or community settings. Areas include, but are not limited to, current practical and theoretical research data and approaches, regional standards of care, applicable guidelines and pathways, cost effectiveness and other high-level HEOR evidence approaches, and local practices of patient management
â ¢ Demonstrate ability to develop trust and maintain integrity with KTLs, HCPs, institutions, cooperative groups, and patient advocacy organizations; as well as with peers, and others within the US Medical Affairs and commercial organizations
â ¢ Communicate with all medical, research and development, and commercial counterparts to successfully and appropriately implement Field Medical strategies & tactics
â ¢ Ensure the attainment of individual & team objectives and results - consistent with medical strategy and corporate priorities
â ¢ Maintain and continually develop scientific knowledge in oncology related to approved Sanofi Oncology products, Sanofi pipeline agents, and the relevant competitive landscape

Requirements: â ¢ 2-4 years of clinical, laboratory, or research experience and demonstrated knowledge of the oncology, hematology or solid organ transplant clinical environment and cooperative groups
â ¢ Advanced terminal degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) in a related discipline strongly preferred
â ¢ 2 - 4 years of active clinical care or clinical research experience preferred
â ¢ Experience with trial design, statistics, biomarkers, outcomes research, and/or patient advocacy preferred
â ¢ 2 years of previous Medical Affairs experience in the US pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred
â ¢ Clear understanding of regional medical practice, clinical decision-making and healthcare systems affecting patient care. Demonstrated strong understanding of clinical research trial and/or related laboratory research design and execution
â ¢ Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
â ¢ Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
â ¢ The ability to work independently and as a part of diverse teams
