Description
Ikaria is a fully-integrated biotherapeutics company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapeutics and interventions designed to meet the significant unmet needs of critically ill patients.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will represent Ikaria Holdings and its products, with key opinion leaders, clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations. They will address the specific needs of these customers by responding to unsolicited request for information about our marketed and developing products.
As the clinical and medical experts of our products, the MSL will build long-term relationships and establish rapport with clinicians in hospitals, clinics, and academic centers through highly scientific product and disease state discussions that support or expand current therapeutic concepts, and insure safe and effective utilization of our products. The MSL will be a resource to company management regarding market dynamics, business development and customer feedback.

The MSL must also stay current on therapeutic advances and competing therapies or products. Must maintain an awareness of regulatory and quality issues and processes as they apply to the business of Ikaria Holdings and adhere to the standards established by the company.

The MSL will report to the Manager, Medical Affairs. They will be field based in their assigned geographic area and they will need to establish a home office or work area. This position requires up to 50% travel (regional, national, and possibly internationally), the ability to work both independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.

Role Specifics:
1. Attend national and regional medical meetings and symposia as a representative of Ikaria and engage in discussions with attendees as appropriate, attend scientific sessions and poster presentations, gather information, and summarize findings. As possible and when appropriate cultivate professional relationships from these contacts.

2. Deliver fair-balanced and objective clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare professionals in response to unsolicited requests for information on the use of company products. This may include developing the presentations.

3. Identify and train speakers for advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs with regulatory approved materials, slides sets, abstracts, posters, etc.

4. Organize and carry out regional advisory board initiatives.

5. Provide input to management regarding alternative therapies, business development opportunities/risks, and customer feedback

6. Facilitate the submission of applications for unrestricted educational grants or research initiatives and request for support of studies, per company policy

Requirements
Education:
A minimum of a M.S. degree in the life sciences a Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D. would be preferred

Experience:
* A minimum of 1 year experience as an MSL or equivalent, with 5-10 years critical care, neonatal or cardiovascular experience preferred. Strong experience in establishing scientific and medical credibility
* Demonstrated success in interpreting scientific data and presenting research information to scientists and healthcare providers
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including scientific/ technical writing and presentations
* Working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
